Regrettable price increases effective 1st June 2021
Dear Customer,
It is with sincere regret that we need to announce price increases to be effective from 1 st June 2021.
Since the start of this year, we have received significant price increases on the majority of our raw materials i.e. Wax + 17% & rising, glass + 7%, fragrances 5%-8% (but in some cases up to 20%) & packaging 3%-5%. We have been absorbing these increases until now but unfortunately, we cannot continue to do so. We are not passing on anywhere near the full extra cost as we believe in sharing the burden wherever we can.
These increases will be felt by all Candle manufacturers in the UK and are, in general, brought about for the following reasons:
- Shipping & import charges. e.g. The cost for a 20 foot container in October last year was around $1800.00. Today’s cost is close to $10,000.00.
- Raw material shortages. Wax is currently in noticeably short supply globally but since Brexit, supplies from the main refinery in Germany have been restricted to the UK. I will leave you to ponder as why that might be!
- Paper & board prices from the USA have been impacted by a shortage of, & the increased cost of shipping containers.
- As a result of Brexit, we now must pay additional duty & freight-clearance charges for imported goods that were not there before.
- Due to the exceptional high demand for all commercial alcohol related products, our buy-in price increased early 2020 by more than 100%. We did not pass this on to our customers as we were assured at the time it was a temporary situation. Unfortunately, the price has not reduced yet & is unlikely to this year.
Our principal suppliers have assured us that for the foreseeable future, and as a Key account, we are relatively safe regarding supply, but we are also making efforts to establish secondary supply streams where necessary.

We truly hope that prices will stabilize very soon, but for us to be there as a supplier for you, we must maintain viability.
